この度、弊社設計のプロジェクト「Echoes Shimmachi」が、第37回 くまもと景観賞（2025年度）奨励賞を受賞いたしました。
くまもと景観賞とは
景観は「目に映る環境」とも言われています。
緑にあふれ、地域の文化や伝統を感じさせる美しい街並み景観や田園景観は、訪れる人の共感を誘うとともに、そこに住む人の我が町・ふるさとへの愛着をますます高めます。
「くまもと景観賞」は、私たちの郷土＝熊本が緑と潤いに満ちた美しい県土となるよう、良好な景観形成に大きく貢献している人々の功績を広く顕彰することを目的としている賞です。

本作は、ドイツの「iF DESIGN AWARD 2026」、台湾の「Golden Pin Design Award 2025」、韓国の「Asia Design Prize 2026」という国際的なデザイン賞3冠に続き、地域社会に根ざした景観への貢献を評価いただいたことになります。
設計者として、前職での6年間に及ぶ熊本駅ビルの設計を通じ、新しい駅前の景観創出に携わった経験は、私の原点の一つです。今回の「Echoes Shimmachi」においては、歴史ある新町の風景をどう「再接続（reconnect）」するかという、より身体的なアプローチで風景に向き合いました。
特に大切にしたのは、坪井川を街に開くことです。川に対する建物のあり方を示し、この建築がこれからも「街に愛される風景」となることを願っております。
国際的な評価をいただいた本年、この熊本の地で景観賞を受賞できたことは、私にとって何よりの誇りです。

Winner of the 37th Kumamoto Cityscape Award 2025
We are honored to announce that our project, “Echoes Shimmachi,” has been awarded the Encouragement Prize at the 37th Kumamoto Cityscape Award (2025).
Following international recognition this year from the iF DESIGN AWARD 2026 (Germany), Golden Pin Design Award 2025 (Taiwan), and Asia Design Prize 2026 (Korea), this award from the local community of Kumamoto holds a deeply special significance for us.
During my previous six-year tenure at Nikken Sekkei, I was deeply involved in the design of the Kumamoto Station Building, contributing to the creation of a new urban landscape for the station area. With “Echoes Shimmachi,” my approach shifted toward a more physical and intimate “reconnection” with the historical fabric of Shimmachi.
A central theme of the design was “opening the Tsuboi River to the city.” We hope this building serves as a meaningful example of how architecture can engage with the river, becoming a beloved part of the cityscape for generations to come.
While we are humbled by the global accolades received this year, being recognized for our contribution to the landscape of Kumamoto is a milestone of unparalleled pride.

제37회 구마모토 경관상 2025 장려상 수상 안내
저희 사무소의 프로젝트 ‘Echoes Shimmachi(에코즈 신마치)’가 제37회 구마모토 경관상(2025년도) 장려상을 수상했습니다.
독일의 ‘iF DESIGN AWARD 2026’, 대만의 ‘Golden Pin Design Award 2025’, 한국의 ‘Asia Design Prize 2026’을 통한 국제적인 디자인 어워드 3관왕 달성에 이어, 지역 사회의 경관에 기여한 공로를 인정받게 된 것을 매우 영광스럽게 생각합니다.
전 직장인 닛켄세케이 재직 시절, 6년 동안 구마모토 역 빌딩 설계에 참여하며 새로운 역전 경관을 만들었던 경험은 저의 건축가로서의 중요한 뿌리 중 하나입니다. 이번 ‘Echoes Shimmachi’에서는 역사 깊은 신마치의 풍경을 어떻게 ‘다시 연결(reconnect)’할 것인가라는 보다 신체적인 접근 방식으로 풍경을 마주하고자 했습니다.
설계에서 특히 중요하게 생각한 것은 ‘쓰보이가와 강을 거리에 개방하는 것’이었습니다. 강에 대한 건축의 올바른 태도를 제시하고, 이 건물이 앞으로도 ‘지역사회에 사랑받는 풍경’으로 남기를 바랍니다.
세계적인 평가를 받았던 올해, 이곳 구마모토에서 경관상을 수상하게 된 것은 저에게 그 어떤 글로벌 수상보다도 큰 자부심으로 다가옵니다.
