TORANOSUKE
Toranosuke is a Japanese sweets shop owned by the brand Coffee Gallery, whose flagship store is located just across the same street in Toujinmachi, Kumamoto prefecture. The core concept was to create a “museum” where the treats are displayed as exquisite works of art. The interior design is inspired by the Japanese sweet called mochi, a soft and chewy rice cake. The walls, which represent the outside rice-dough layer, have panels that seem to peel off and fold inward to create the shelves. The floor is finished with hardened soil; the slightly soft sensation perceived while walking on it recalls the texture of soybean paste.
